My Tom Thumb Wedding

Back in the days of the “Great Depression” of the 30s, Tom Thumb Weddings were popular fund-raising events for organizations. When I first published this in 2008, I heard from the “bride” who now lives in Mobile, Alabama. Here is our picture of the Tom Thumb wedding of c1837. Ann Canty Wellborn (now) was the Bride;  John Moore, the Groom; Carolyn Lockard, the Maid of Honor; and Robert Stokes, the Best Man.

Almost 20 years before, my aunt Fannie Pearl McIlwain was in the Tom Thumb Wedding of 1919. The program for that grand night at Casino Beach Park of Pascagoula, Mississippi, is included in the images here.
